A 16th Century Antique Courtyard House with Antique Furniture - Centre of Suzhou (near Shanghai)
This is a real antique house which Located on the Old Street in central Suzhou city near by a river. The guesthouse is converted from two neighbouring pervious historical residential courtyard properties (Stately Homes). They originally were built for 2 different rich families during the middle of Ming dynasty (450 years ago). Now they have been joined together as one guesthouse, so anyone can have the opportunity to see and stay in this antique house. It has been kept as much original as possible. A lot of furniture is real antiques. There are 11 small but typical Suzhou courtyards/gardens in this guesthouse. The hall is the oldest part of the house over 450 years old, it has been through Ming, Qing dynasties, Minguo period (between Qing and Mao time) and also Mao's Culture Revolution. It’s not just accommodation, there is lots of culture and history to see here.

Suzhou is one of the oldest towns in the Yangtze basin which could be traced back 2500 years, and is known for its masterpieces of classic Chinese gardens as well as its 1000 years tradition of silk production, also famous for it's traditional techniques of double-sided and double-faced embroidery . Suzhou has interconnected waterways and beautiful environment, the city is often referred as “Oriental Venice”. Many houses are built with "street in front and river at back".
