This small hotel has some characters compared with most modern hotels and
apartments in Shanghai.
It's very hard to find any traditional
Chinese accommodation in this city. From the photos you can see, the hotel
decoration is a bit western look, not pure Chinese style (which is a bit
pity). But Shanghai has always been had Western influence because of it's
history.
The hotel staff do not speak much English (very basic), and they don't advertise in English on internet, so it's hard for foreign tourists to book directly. The hotel way to book is quite old fashioned - no email, no website. All bookings have to be by telephone and fax (need to call to ask availabilities first). There are only 15 rooms anyway, most time the rooms are full. They rely on recommendation. The hotel business is running by a middle-aged lady. It's very popular for Chinese guests because it's very different from others, and also more private and cozy. You will appreciate the homely atmosphere here. The local Chinese breakfast will be served every morning (see photos above). If you require, even your laundry can be washed and been folded nicely back to you - for free of charge. Note: Because the staff do not speak much English (not like 4 or 5 star hotels). For foreign guests, It's ok for simple check in and check out, but you may feel inconvenient for asking a lot of information. Please make sure before you make the reservation.
